USC Ch. 6: Breather Stage

Currently typing this in the darkness of 11pm on Move-Out Day. I'll probably be the only person left on campus for Christmas/Hanukkah/some other names? Apparently arguing over the name of a holiday is a thing here??

Anyway -- cleared all exams with pretty good scores, learned to work with C++ and Maya without causing any computer explosions, aced my first game jam and completed a 3D model -- printed out, no less -- this is basically all I ever wanted to accomplish in the first semester of college. Sweet!

With all that out of the way I'm finally finding the time to pursue a long-suppressed interest -- music composition, specifically retro music which I really dig. I tried picking up FamiTracker 2 years ago but got really lost because I didn't understand hexadecimal counting. Now with Intro to Computer Science under my belt I'm back for vengeance!

Just finished transcribing one of my favorite retro tunes -- Pokemon Gold's Violet/Olivine City OST into FamiTracker, and it sounds pretty legit if I do say so myself! Shout out to this 10/10 FamiTracker tutorial by Ben Burnes -- concise and extremely clear with explanations and screenshots.

After I finish composing for the demo of my videogame Little Green Soldier, I can finally slap it on a portfolio site -- but that means having to learn HTML and CSS, which I already have (thanks, Codecademy!). All that's left to do is actually build the website, and then figure out how to deploy it. Hmmmm.
