Yes, rhombicosidodecahedron. It's a thing.

Apparently, this monster is made of 12 pentagons, 20 triangles and 30 squares, damn. The more you learn, y'know?
I didn't end up using that mesh (it looks hella sick though, not sure who dreamed it up); instead the truncated icosahedron helped me produce this glorious footba--- sorry, that's soccer ball, I'm moving to the US soon. (See y'all, Trojans!)

Well, now I know not to call it a sphere.
Of course, this ball originates from the excellent Blender tutorial series on Youtube, as does this surprisingly convincing wood-textured cup that took all of 15 minutes (minus rendering time. Who knew that converting images from 3D to 2D can take longer than the 3D work itself??)

Looks like those secluded-corner-of-IKEA designer-type cups suitable for rich hippies or apes.
I've still got quite a ways from character animation (gotta model that stuffed teddy bear!), so in the meantime I got myself hyped by purchasing a copy of Rigging for Games, by Eyal Assaf. Loads and loads of Python scripting inside -- super glad I chose the right language.
Fight on!
